Even without streams of the first weekend matches, we will still be opening up the public CREST endpoint that allows players to follow along with wonderful 3D viewers like the one at Null-Sec.com/

The reason I was mentioning this in my comment is that I, like many other players, are in an alliance that isn't necessarily willing to participate. My corporation (and even more my alliance) has very good solo PVPer but we don't do fleets. And switching alliance in a week just for the AT is almost mission impossible. This year we're actually much less strict about membership requirements than in the last two years.
In general, the AT is intended as a venue for players to represent their own alliances on the big stage, rather than funnel into special temporary alliances just to leave again. I encourage you to see if your alliance would like to put together a team and enter into the random draw. The AT is a very small gang format, and good solo pilots are much more important than fleet experience.
